Digg in a hole with HD-DVD Encryption

Digg have  reinstated all digg.com references to the HD-DVD encryption hack.  They had removed all links that referenced a sixteen digit hex number that unlocked the most currently released HD-DVD titles from the revenue AACS copy protection scheme.

To throw my hat in the ring as well here is the offending random sequence of letters:

09-f9-11-02-9d-74-e3-5b-d8-41-56-c5-63-56-88-c0

What ever happened to the fair use section of copyright law?  According to the “fair use” clause I should be able to make backups. I tend to do this to my CD’s as my car has a nasty habit of destroying music cds.  I am NOT supporting piracy, I am supporting the ability of a user who has legally purchased property to protect that property.
