No more posts from England…

Sorry about the lack of posts whilst I have been away. I got wrapped up in visiting my folks back home, and forgot about my audience online. Rest assured the usual schedule will be resumed forthwith!

England, Smoke, but no fire…

So here I am sat in my hotel room, and I stink. No, dear readers, not the usual stink of a hard days slog at the poor house. But I stink of smoke. I am so used to the fact that nobody can smoke inside, that it always comes as a shock when I get to this trade show, and I realize that entry requirements include having the need to smoke 40 cigarettes a day!

My “yank” colleagues and I kept having to escape for breathers every now and again. Which usually involved a trip to the bar to drink the “Cream of Manchester”….

Blair makes room for Brown

So the British Prime Minister has announced he will stand down on June 27th. No real surprise there, this has been on the cars for a long time. It is widely expected that Mr Gordon Brown, the Chancellor of the Exchequor (Sec Treas equivalent), will replace him in the leadership role.

Mr Brown will not even have to move homes, as he already lives in 10 Downing Street, as Mr Blair elected to move his family into the more capacious 11 Downing Street (the traditional Chancellor’s home) when he was elected in 1997.
