An Inconvenient Mistruth?

BBC: “A High Court judge who ruled on whether climate change film, An Inconvenient Truth, could be shown in schools said it contains ‘nine scientific errors’.”

I think that the judge in this case has made the correct decision. The DVD of Al Gore’s movie was being sent free of charge to schools across the UK. One of the most important things we can teach our children is objectivity, and the ability to analyze and decide on matters for themselves. Given that Al Gore’s movie is somewhat controversial, I think it is important for the teachers showing the movie, to ensure at least some modicum of impartiality is maintained.

However, I also think this is a great idea to do here in the US – so long as the same guidelines are followed. Climate change is one of the most important issues of our day, even those who are skeptics still spend an inordinate amount of time discussing it – proving my point 😉

Incidentally, my post yesterday riled up one of my colleagues enough to come into my office and talk to me about it. Ahh the power of a blog…
