Comcast and HD

So despite Comcast’s boast of having the most HD, their lineup is pretty paltry when compared to satellite services such as Dish or DirectTV.

Comcast relies on the OnDemand HD which I certainly don’t count… yet at least. When I watch CNN I want to see the HD variant – but of course CNN is not available in HD yet on Comcast.

When I last spoke to them, they assured me that by the end of the month they will be adding CNN, Animal Planet and a few other new HD Channels. But even so they are still WAY behind the competition. We will see what happens in the future, but I have been toying with the idea of switching. The only thing that is keeping me right now, is the prospect of TIVO software on my DVR (which is looking increasingly unlikely for this year) and the High Speed Internet which DSL just can’t match.

Comcast, hurry up! Bring Setanta sports, and more HD channels soon. Oh and another thing. I HATE the fact that I have to learn 2 channel numbers – one for regular and one for the HD variant. I I go to ESPN on channel 32, I should always get the HD variant, and have the option to watch the regular version if needed. When I schedule a recording, it should ask if I want to record the standard or high def – but it should always be channel 32. Currently I watch ESPN on 923 in the living room (HD), and 32 in the bedroom (SD)…. Bugs the crap out of me.
