California Wildfires

At a lunch I attended today Scott McNealy (CEO Sun Microsystems) listed his top 10 things to do with California. I think it was number 7 which caught my attention: Earthquakes, Mudslides and Wildfires.

Of course that is particuar pertinent at the present when so many wildfires are raging in southern California.

An official unlocked Iphone?

Why waste time hacking the iphone to work on other carriers when you can just buy the iphone in France where it will come unlocked already.

Due to an overregulated market (i.e. Strange Laws), all phones sold in France must be available in an unlocked version. Apple therefore will be producing a premium priced unlocked iphone.

Steve announces Iphone SDK due in February

Steve Jobs has announced on the Apple Website that there will be a iphone Software Development Kit sometime early next year.

This has justified my willingness to jump into the iphone pool without knowing about the future of 3rd party applications. The release of the SDK will mean that we can expect some amazing things for the future of the iphone… The geeky brit is excited!

Jackson could still direct “The Hobbit”

According to reports there is still a chance Peter Jackson could direct the proposed prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I am of the opinion that not having him direct this would be a very bad idea, along the lines of having Michael Gambdon play Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies…
